Hello all,
I would like to control a softsynth (e.g. Drift) in Live with a launch control XL in the following way:
1) in user mode, I have created a user template to control a Drift instance. This works well. For example, I have associated potentiometer 17 (the first in the bottom row) to control the amp attack time using MIDI CC 50 over channel 1 and potentiometer 1 to control the filter cutoff value using MIDI CC 55 over channel 1.
2) during a live performance, I would like to use the bottom row of the potentioments (the only row available to control a device) with the factory template to control different parameters to the ones above. For example, I would like to use potentiometer 17 (the first potentiometer in the bottom row) to control the filter cutoff value using MIDI CC 55 over channel 1.
In this way I would use the user template in 1) while programming a patch, while the factory template in 2) during a live performance.
The possible solutions I have tried:
a) using the dials in the instruments rack, but these do not allow multimapping. If I try to map a potentiometer to a drift parameter, this overrides the mapping in user mode 1).
b) using a chain of midi effects: instrument rack->CC_map8->manual midi mapper. This this setup allows multimapping, but the values in midi mapper override those in the user mode.
Is there a Max for Live devide that could solve the problem above?
Thanks for you help!
Federico
launch control xl and multiple mappings
Re: launch control xl and multiple mappings
Change the midi output channel for the LCxl.
Use Novation Components and select User3, change the midi channel it is sending on from 1 to, 3 or your favorite number between 0-15. Save the template.
Open Ableton and map the various knobs.
So potentiometer 17 channel 01 controls "A"
and potentiometer 17 channel 03 controls "B"
