Waveforms taking too long to render ... analysis?

Post by wonderlover » Thu Aug 17, 2023 7:53 pm

I'm a ProTools and DP user. I just bought Live and am setting up my first show with it....about 30 songs in arrangement view with stems for playback.

When i open the project, it takes a few minutes for the waveforms to render, making my laptop fairly sluggish. Is there a way to store the waveform renders (as in ProTools and Digital Performer) in a folder or file so I don't have to wait for my hundreds of stems to render at startup?

thanks!

It is not the expected experience with Live, I believe you just encountered a defect that was unfortunately introduced in 11.3. A fix is upcoming (it's in beta)

(Drawing data and analysis is stored in .asd files that Live creates)

Are those files stored whether or not I have "create analysis files" turned on/off in my preferences?

"Create analysis files" needs to be turned on for the data to be saved in the ASD files.

I’m new to Ableton but I noticed that the .asd files get saved wherever my audio files are stored. It gets VERY cluttered very fast. I hoped they’d be stored in their own separate folder within the project master folder.

If it was per project then you would have the same problem with each separate project (needing to rebuild .asd for each project that doesn't already have them), and you would also get dozens of copies of the same .asd file in separate projects.
