push 3 Standalone Startup Time

Post by invertednothing » Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:28 pm

My push 3 startup time in standalone mode is over 2 Minutes. I read and saw videos on YouTube, that it should be around 40-45 seconds. Does anybody have the same problem or know the solution to fix this? Thanks in advanced...

Have you tried resetting it?

I don’t have an answer but I’ll weigh in to say that mine also takes over 2 minutes — I timed my last couple of boot cycles and each one took about 2:18 from button press to blank project.

To Tarekith’s point, I ran a reset a few weeks ago but haven’t done one since yesterday’s update. I’ll try another reset today and see if it helps.

I’m running Push 1.1.10 / Ableton Suite 11.3.10 / Firmware 1.0.71 with 186.7 GB storage available (about 10 Factory Packs and a modest User Library; Set Library only has a few entries since my last factory reset).

Definitely interested to know how people are getting 45 second boot times!

Edit: ran a full factory reset and boot times are consistently within a second of 2:18. Kept it stock out-of-the-box (Live Intro, no packs or sets or user library transfers). I did, however, connect to wifi after the first boot.

Just timed the boot time of My Push 3 stand alone, excactly 41 seconds. I repeated it 3 times and every time around the 40 seconds. On power supply or on battery, makes no diiference. I have e few packs installed.

My Push 3 is 2 weeks old. Firmware 1.1.10, 1.0.71

@rjulius if you still get more than 2 mintues boot time even after a factory reset, I would advice to contact support. Looks not normal to me.

It's in the ~40 seconds area here too.

As an update, authorization is failing after the factory reset so I’m stuck on Intro for the time being. Looks like I’ll be filing a few tickets today…

Did you try authorizing from another computer or a phone?

Mine also takes around 40 seconds, which I consider rather slow compared to anything in 2023.

I think Push 3 Standalone lacks some sort of sleep/standby functionality!

dawn! You too. I also wrote to the ableton support. Let's hope for some good news. It seems that most users here are also in the 40 seconds area. What would be more then (fast) enough for me

Good call! My phone didn’t work, but I reset my router and it went through. Had to reboot twice before my Available Packs showed up but it’s all running great now. Phew!

Truth be told, the slow boot was shocking at first but by the time I learned my way around the unit (I came from Push 1 so there were a TON of new capabilities), it was basically a non-issue. It’s the first thing I power on and by the time I’m actually ready to make music, it’s usually nearly done. The only thing that bothers me now is just knowing that it should be better. Hopefully it’s an easy fix!

Edit: also, I submitted a support ticket right before encountering the authentication issue. Hoping it’s something I can fix myself and I don’t have to send the whole unit back. I’ll keep the group posted in case anyone has the same issue in the future.

Yes I did. Two times. Nothing changed. It's still damn sloooooooow. 2,17 minutes. And the annoying part now; I have to reinstall all my packs and samples. ;-(

Well, no resolution yet but Ableton support confirmed that it’s abnormal and is investigating to figure out whether it’s related to hardware or software. Fingers crossed!

Just to follow up here, Ableton support has been super helpful. After a few rounds of back-and-forth they determined that it was a hardware issue and replaced my entire unit. They took good care of me and my new Push boots up in about 41 seconds!

I also notice (anecdotally) faster performance when downloading and installing Packs. I never timed it before so I can’t be sure, but I was surprised how quickly I was able to get back up and running on the new machine! With that said, it took about the same amount of time to transfer my sample library over wifi so who knows? Either way, I’m happy.
