My bad if this is too obvious, but I set up an external device to a MIDI channel and record a clip, the notes get recorded, but the playback never makes any sound. How can I determine if the notes were recorded with the channel I intended? (The MIDI Monitor is no help because it doesn't correctly display the channel. Each note shows up on a different channel, which I think is related to MPE.)
Doing the same thing with a different external device works fine, btw. Just this one (Roland HPD-20) seems to have the no sound on MIDI playback issue.
How to determine MIDI channel of notes in a clip?

Are you talking about External Instrument ?
Are you inputting notes via your hardware synth !
Is the synth MPE ?
