Analog/Tension Mono Legato Glides not working as expected

Post by Comfy » Tue Sep 12, 2023 6:21 pm

Hello,

Got a bit of an issue with the Analog and Tension instruments not seeming to behave correctly when trying to do Mono Glides/Portmento in Legato mode. Basically the glide will happen even though the notes don't overlap. I have set the instruments to a single (mono) voice, turned on Legato, draw some notes in a midi clip (that touch but do not overlap), but it still triggers the slide. Even if I zoom right in on the notes and reduce its size (no quantize) a tiny bit (so there's a visible gap) the slide will still occur. It seems they need a significant gap (zoomed right in) between notes in order for the slide NOT to occur.

I've tried the same with Operator, Sampler, Simpler, and Wavetable, but they behave as expected.

Any thoughts?

For those device you also need to activate the Legato button to get the results you're expecting.

Sure... But it still doesn't work as expected? I had the legato button on the instruments already switched 'ON', but glides still occur even if the notes do not overlap.

Here's a quick vid of whats happening:

I mean technically speaking there should be no glides at all in that video I posted, as all the drawn notes never actually overlap (also checked with a midi monitor). It seems to me the way that Analog or Tension detect overlapping notes is a little broken. They seem to consider notes that end/start very close to each other as overlapping when in fact they are not.

Yep, thx for the video.
I'm able to reproduce the issue. You're right, the gap between 2 notes requires a certain size it seems. It definitely doesn't looks right to me, even the tiniest gap should be enough, so this is pretty much a bug.
Can you report to Support please? Attach an example set/clip, they'll appreciate

Thanks for that! I thought it was probably a bug, but a second opinion is always helpful. I'll get on to support to report this over the weekend.
