Is this tru that the Ableton copy protection eats about 30% of the Audio-performance??

BULLSHIT complete and utter as far as I'm concerned.
This is NOT the way challenge response copy protection works.
It is the way DONGLE based copy protection does.
Challenge response is totally unrelated.
May ask who the hell these new asshat no it all expert nubi fuckwads are cluttering up all this forum with shit and utter tripe?
Quite frankly the tone of this place is really starting to piss me off.
Which isn't a slur at you .
It was just a lot more pleasant here 3 years ago I guess.
Seems to be too many people tall poppy lobbing around here and doing so quite deliberate.
I can see Bernd , Alex and Robert sitting back laughing heartily at all the crap that's being posted in here of late.
It's nearly as fun as the Props general forum since they released V3.
Really stupid of me to expect better around these parts.
Honestly though if that's the case my Windows task manager would not be showing CPU use of 0% when Live is open or a general 5-7% less CPU use than the actual Live meter is showing when doing work.
If you call 17 Combinators sequenced in LIVE, Rewired with some 32 VST effects and some 15 midi effects + 5-10 stereo audio tracks and an absolutely glitch free playback problematic then go the fuck back too hardware land.
I get more juice from Live than I ever got from hardware and P5 V2 has zero copy protection and is NO WHERE near as CPU efficient overall in my experience (though I love P5's grid modes/stepmodes and Dimension to death).
Three cheers for rewire.
Some people here seem to be capable of both smoking crack and shoving their heads up their arseholes at the same time.
I'm impressed by their level of physical dexterity but their ability too post factual threads seems somewhat limited.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

Ill chime in and say that not only do I also hate people that post things when they have no clue what they are talking about. But I am getting really pissed at some of the posts on here. There are so many people constantly attacking so many things in live. And is not constructive criticism, its people going off about how stupid so many things are. Or why this should be different. AND ALL OF THESE PEOPLE USE THE SOFTWARE. There is something to be said for sugggesting changes, but badmouthing is not necessary. If you dont like it, dont fucking use it. Ive never heard more bullshit directed at a developer, than on this site. Take a step back and look at what is so amazing about this software. Nothing is perfect. If you want live to follow your idea of ideal software, no such luck. It probably wont happen. So until you design something better, shut the fuck up.

The issue was already answered in the other thread, so no real need to repeat the question again

The answer is, "NO", Live's copy protection does not steal performance.

The person in the other thread who claimed it was was basing his point on statements that H2O made about the performance loss alegedly associated with the Steinberg Cubase dongle system of copy protection.

The challenge/response approach used by Ableton unlocks the program and then lets it run at full steam

I also agree with inis that there are some ill-informed, pointless, negative and at times STUPID posts being made here at present. This is no doubt because of the interest in the new version 5 update. But let's stop it already

I´m one of the guys who posted the criticism without really knowing. I heard this rumour about lack of performance due to copyprotection about six months ago...

Talked to a friend of mine last night who just laughed: "WTF!? , 20-30%.. Are stupid or what?" was his reaction. Well I guess I am.

Anyway, I will never say anything bad about Live again.

Except that I have a problem with its lack of looping capabilities, of course.

Feel free to say bad things about Live... so long as they're true
