Anyone still rocking a Push 1?

Post by Hutch979 » Tue Jul 09, 2024 5:19 pm

So I've had 2 different Push 2s, the second of which I upgraded to a 3. Due to me mainly working in arrangement view and preferring to use my Matriarch as a MIDI keyboard (never got used to the 64 pad layout) I never used the Push to it's full potential. Not even the 3, even though I was sure the MPE will make me use the pads more, but no. It was just a nice thing to have. I thought since I'm an ableton fanboy, I always needed the latest and greatest Push, but turns out I am fine without it.

Recently though I started doing more session view things and got tired of clicking scenes and was looking at launchpads when I saw a superb condition ableton push 1 for 130 euro. I am currently waiting for it. Just want to ask some questions, and perhaps spark a discussion, who still uses a 1? How are you liking it, what keeps you from the newer ones?

Unfortunately the last time I dug my Push1 out of the cupboard it had turned to sticky mush. The whole of the outer coating had degraded or something and I couldn't for the life of me get it cleaned up. I bought the Push 2 and the build quality is much better and I have it integrated into a hybrid dj/performance set.

What I really miss about the Push1 is the PXT-Live Plus scripts. I could actually do 90% of my arrangement work on the Push and not touch the mouse keyboard much once I got adept with it. There's too much to those scripts to even attempt to discuss here, but I really wish that Stray would update them for the later Push models.

If I could clean up my Push1 I would love to dig it out again.
