Cursor is late

Post by donito » Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:45 pm

The cursor in midi editor is late, like, if I'm playing a drum pattern, the snare already knocked and the cursor isn't there yet. I'm using a M1 mac studio and all my other software are tight on the beat, my latency is 32ms, Ableton Live 12.0.2 with push 3. I'm new to Ableton so my question is this is how it works in this daw or it's some bug or something ?

No bug, just how it's behaved since forever on Live. It's not normally a problem if you don't have devices that add too much latency. For example, If you use a bunch of compressors with 10ms lookahead then you'll get a noticeable delay in the graphics vs the audio output.

It also seems to build up with larger sets for reasons I cannot fathom.

Oh that's too bad, cause I like to see the graphics on point when programming complex drum patterns. There was pretty much nothing else happening, just a regular drum rack track and a komplete kontrol vst with something to play, no plugin that adds latency to compensate for. I'm coming from maschine so where this was tight in the same setup. :(

I hope they fix that.
