I'm a capable keyboard player, and I want to record nothing but MIDI clips (no audio)) in a live/improv setting so I can loop them live.
The flow I'd like to accomplish is to select the clip/cell. (Of course the track is armed.) Then, with a foot control button (MIDI mapped to something) I'd start recording in the clip (so both hands can be ready, even with 1 bar count in), then click another foot control button to stop recording (letting both hands do their thing up to the end.)
I've spent over an hour groveling around Google and YouTube how to do this without success.
I want to do this in Session view.
Thank you for your assist!

Re: How to record MIDI loops live
I seem to have found the answer here:

In Session view, start playback. Click the cell into which you want to record. To start recording, click ENTER. To end recording, click ENTER again. (Obviously ENTER can be assigned to a foot controller button.)
