How to get rid of "Media files are missing" message for deliberately deleted files
So I'm duping some old cassettes and leave Live running while I leave. This relieves some of the tedium, but occasionally the music ends and a lot of silence is recorded. A whole lot if I get really busy.
I then clip off the silence and consolidate the part with sound to a new file. However, I want to get rid of the huge file wth so much silence in it so I delete it in finder. Alas, Live then wants it in the set even though it's been replaced by the consolidated file. Collect and save doesn't seem to work in getting rid of the message, nor does save as.
Is there another way to do delete an original recording and is there a way to get Live to stop looking for the files?

Try this.
File > manage files > manage project > delete unused files
File > manage files > manage project > delete unused files

I have. For some reason, it doesn't list those as unused. I also tried deleting the set backups as they used the files, but the offending files are still listed as in use by the project and I can't figure out why. I had undeleted them as I didn't want that "missing" message. I've also tried collect and save.

Gebus. What am I missing? I save a copy into a new project folder and none of the audio files are copied. When I select collect and save all, none of the recordings, consolidated files, etc. are copied. There is a file manager option for grabbing external files, but it still lists the files I've deleted from the track, but are still considered part of the project.
I really need a way to purge these huge files once I've trimmed them down without being bugged incessantly about stuff missing that's not actually being used. I have plenty of local storage, but I back up online and like to keep things as small as possible.

Note that trying to consolidate that already consolidated file seems to hang live at 0%. Not a great sign. This is Live 12.0.20 BTW.

Is the original file part of a take lane?

Aha! Thanks. Maybe ditching that will help. I'll get back with that.
Even worse I duped the tracks to record new ones (to retain the input settings, etc.) so there are the same take lanes on every track. Much housekeeping to do.

That seemed to cure the "issue", or more accurately -- user error.
