live 12.1 & push 2 - 'new' button doesn't create new scene

Post by clay » Sun Oct 20, 2024 2:48 am

with push 2 and live 12.1 its seeming strange to start a new blank scene.

The 'new' button isn't highlighted so it can't be pressed. If I press 'shift', then 'new' becomes highlighted. if I then press 'new', no new scene is created. However if I press 'shift' 'duplicate' a new scene is created. also 'select' 'duplicate' creates a new scene.

Is this a bug? Seems illogical that 'duplicate' creates a new scene, but 'new' doesn't.

just checking if other people are seeing this behaviour before I log a bug.

in the manual for push 2, its says

In Scene Workflow:

Duplicate creates a new scene containing all of the currently playing clips, and seamlessly switches to playing them back. This is the same as the Capture and Insert Scene command in Live’s Create menu.
New is identical to Duplicate, except that it does not duplicate the currently selected clip. Instead, an empty clip slot is prepared, allowing you to create a new idea in the current track.
