[Request] Song mode

Post by gaiom » Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:10 am

Is it possible to export audio on move or note with a sort of song mode like horizontal in live? My use case is to sketch music then export a sketch structure to share with other musician without going into live to save time and manipulation. In other case i create a sketch structure to test acoustic guitars near my phone or my move to practice or test structure (in this case my hand can’t play guitar and change pattern). I’ve dreamed about a hardware like move since 5 years and im really happy. That’s the last thing i need to gain time on the go without going to my studio and go to live.

Totally agree with a song mode feature. I'm also using a guitar to test different arrangement ideas so I am one hand short from that. Just copy what Circuit Tracks have for song mode. Use one pad for a 4-track pattern and put them together in the preferred order.

Yes please. I believe this feature would substantially improve the device, increasing it's use-case space. Chains on chains.

Yes, some way of recording a session would be great. I've played songs with this only to be disappointed that I hadn't recorded it... I had to record sessions into my phone so I could keep the song.

Yup agreed. A song mode would be so nice. I could imagine it like so:

1. Perhaps pushing shift + session view would open arrangement view and allow us to launch clips and record into the arrangement. However, maybe there are hardware limitations preventing this?

2. An alternative could be to provide a way to start up the move in standalone mode, connect via USB into live, and then record a performance into the arrangement view.

I can't imagine there being any hardware limitations that would prevent the second option from being possible, so I hope that we can get something like this; it would really open up the move so much. The best current alternative is to play your performances using standalone mode or a push (if you have one), and record that into the arrangement. The downsides here are that the Move is more intuitive to use in it's standalone mode (there are functions like adjusting effect sends on a drum rack that aren't possible in Control Mode, without setting up additional macros).

Please Ableton, give us a way to record our performances into Live!!! <3

Absolutely need this, otherwise forced to leave Move prematurely, which I’d rather not do. Thanks

Would really like this too. That's the one thing that is missing for me since picking it up. If it got a song mode where you make a song like you would while using Ableton session view that would elevate it even more IMO.
