Live user interface customize to personal requirements

Post by jjot » Tue Oct 22, 2024 7:21 am

Live has now become a very extensive and unfortunately very overloaded DAW. For many people, a crowded user interface blocks creativity and significantly limits the fun of using it. For me, as a Live user from the very beginning, the evolution of Live into an overloaded DAW is very painful.

Therefore, it would be essential to be able to customize Live as needed and shrink the interface. So that Live can be used again as clearly as at the beginning and focused on the essentials.

Example:
In the settings menu you could select the content of the user interface. The settings could be made via a central menu and not via small buttons that additionally clutter the interface.
- which live devices you want to install (or are available as packages for individual installation)
- Hide clip follow actions
- Hide midi generators
- Hide crossfader (including button).
- Hide midi bank and program
- Hide global scale function
- Hide phase nudge
- Hide sample hot-swap
- etc.

By designing a needs-based user interface, Live would be much more flexible and every user could set up Live
the way they need it and promote their creativity.

I really hope that Ableton will soon offer these possibilities and that Live can return to its beginnings in terms of clarity and user-friendliness. For everyone who really wants to make music and doesn't want to get lost in technology.
