Hello! I just got a Moog-32 and I'm trying to use with Ableton MIDI Clips. I have the MIDI In on the Moog plugged into the MIDI Out on my interface, as well as linked by audio, and I've loaded External Instrument on to a track with clips and selected Midi To as the interface- there's nothing else currently plugged into the interface. Thing is, every time I hit play on the track, it just activates a random sequence on the Moog's sequencer instead of playing the MIDI clips that are loaded. I'm pretty new to the Moog so maybe it's a Moog problem and not an Ableton problem, but I'm thoroughly confused as to what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. Anyone have experience using the Moog-32 with Ableton have any advice on how to fix it?
Thanks!

Re: Getting a Moog-32 to play MIDI clips
I have no experience with operating a Moog-32 directly, but I know it's primary charm is being a sequencer, not just the same as an "instrument" in Live you'd feed a MIDI clip into.
You might, however, try "shift + kb(back arrow)" and then try playing the MIDI clip.
Otherwise, fall in love with the user manual for a few weeks. I have definitely heard that sequencer/synth, and learning as much as you can is a great idea.

Live is triggering the Mother-32’s sequencer when the clip is played.
Make sure “Remote” is turned off on the MIDI output tab for the Mother-32 and that shouldn’t happen.

you're thinking of the "sync" tab probably, ableton is basically sending midi time code to the synth and it's playing it's internal sequencer. if you can't turn off the sequencer you just need to turn off the sync out to the moog (you just need the track out basically)stringtapper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:09 amLive is triggering the Mother-32’s sequencer when the clip is played.

Unless something has changed, "Sync" governs the sending of continuous clock, while "Remote" governs "start" and "stop" messages, which is why I'm suggesting turning off the "Remote" tab to keep Ableton from sending a "start" message when its sequencer starts playing.

ok today I learned something; I thought the start/stop messages were sent via the sync option. also on some devices there's no start/stop and the device will just start when a clock is present so disabling both is a safe bet. in this casestringtapper wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:34 pmNope, definitely thinking of the "Remote" tab.grrrz wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 6:38 pmyou're thinking of the "sync" tab probably, ableton is basically sending midi time code to the synth and it's playing it's internal sequencer. if you can't turn off the sequencer you just need to turn off the sync out to the moog (you just need the track out basically)stringtapper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:09 amLive is triggering the Mother-32’s sequencer when the clip is played.
