Is there a relation between clic and fade in audio ?

Imagine this : you're in Ableton, arrangement view, and you record a word, "pas pas."
At first, you don’t notice anything, but then you hear it: "pas clic pas" instead of "pas silence pas."

You think, "Oh crap, maybe it’s my CPU overloading. 8) "
So, you deactivate every plugin and delete all the other tracks in the session, but it still sounds like "pas clic pas."

Alright, let’s try fading. I grab my [cmd+alt+f] and fade right at the borders of the two "pas." Now it sounds like this: "fade pas fade clic fade pas fade."

When I play from the first "pas," the clic is gone. But if I play 1-2 seconds before it? Bam, "pas clic pas" again.
The clic is at the exact same spot every time.

At this point, some of us might consider quitting and finding a "real" job, but no, we keep going. :x

So now, you try fading harder: "fade pas fade clic fade pas fade."
Sometimes it needs to fade a lot. That’s fine, I’ve been editing vocals for over 10 years. I understand how the word should sound, and it’s absolutely fine.

But why do I have to fade the hell out of these audio clips just to get rid of this clic/plop/pop for good?

Ableton devs, what’s going on here? I’m ready to make work about this, let’s figure it out.

FYI : Nope this clic is not in the audio, I'm on MBP m1 max 64lddr5 mac 14.6.1 (23G93) Ableton 12.1.5 (Build: 2024-12-11_18e1550166)
