Ableton will not automatically connect to audio interface

Is there any way for Ableton to connect to my audio interface automatically when it is turned on? It's fairly annoying to have to go to the preferences every time. I know that if I used the interface in the last session and open Ableton with the interface already turned on it will work, but I often listen to my in built speakers on my Macbook while Ableton is running and want to be able to switch back and forth simply by turning my interface on and off. Every other program seems to be able to do this (browser, Spotify etc.). Does anyone have any tips/information on when this might be added to Ableton? Any help is much appreciated.
