Trouble getting SQ SEQUENCER recorded into midi track by itself

I'm trying to get an sq sequencer recorded into a midi track. I have Ableton set up per screenshot.
I'm able to record and get the midi notes into a new clip but the new clip includes EVERYTHING. Even if I solo the track I want to record.
Also why is there no mixer volume on the new midi track I created to record the sq sequence into? I bet its related to my problem...

THat's because a midi track with no audio output/processor doesn't exhibit any volume fader. That's as expected.

It looks you have several chains in your rack; make sure to select SQ Sequencer's chain in your recording midi track's input selector.
