Need Help with Track Arming via MIDI Footswitch

Hi All,

I'm running into trouble when trying to arm a track (specifically an Audio track) via my Midi footswitch in Ableton Live Lite. Essentially my goal is to have different presets of a plugin running in different Audio tracks and I want to switch between these presets by changing Audio tracks with my footswitch.

Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about MIDI, so I hope you good people might be able to help me out.


Hardware:
I'm using the Tech 21 Midi Mongoose Foot controller, which is connected to my PC via USB with an ESI Midimate Ex Interface cable.

Ableton Live Lite recongnizes the Midimate (not the foot switch itself) as a Midi controller in the settings. I have ticked the boxes for Track and Remote in the MIDI settings. I can assign the footswitch buttons to the track arming buttons via the MIDI mapping. Strangely, the MIDI Settings list my footswitch buttons as "PitchBend".

So far, so good. However, when I then step on my switch, nothing happens.

I've noticed that the Midi In control light in the top right flashes, when I step on my footswitch, so Ableton seems to receive something. However, this does ONLY happen, when I have the Track box ticked in the settings. When I only tick Remote and disable Track, that does not happen. I don't know if that is normal or not.

I have found an older post here in the forum, where someone seems to have the same problem, and apparently it has to do with the MIDI controller not being able to send the correct type of Information. Might that also be the problem in my case? And if so, does the problem lie with my footswitch, or the Midimate cable? WOuld there be any workarounds or do I need to change my hardware?

I'd be grateful for any type of insight.

Problem solved. The Midi Mongoose was only sending PC messages, and in order to arm a track I need a CC message. No idea if the mongoose can do that. I have used a different footswitch that can be programmed to do so, and it works.

Unfortunately, there is still a tiny bit of latency between between preset switches in the Neural Plugin. It's a lot better than it was when switching presets in the plugin itself, though, so I suppose that is something.
