Ableton changes Midi value of certain instruments in Komplete Kontrol automatically

Post by TheFooFighter » Fri May 30, 2025 8:49 am

Hi everyone,

I encountered a weird bug. When I stop playing back audio, Ableton switches the "Balance" knob in NI's Hybrid keys to value 0. I have to reload the preset to make it sound normal again. Then when I stop, it's at 0 again. No automation is added. And I even tried to lock the normal value in with automation and it still falls back to 0. I have 2 videos available...

The bug only happens in Ableton, not in Logic. Kontakt 7 in standalone works fine. However, I use the S88 Mk2 as a keyboard, so I need to use Komplete Kontrol

Any help is greatly appreciated

Put a "midi monitor" device just before your Vst to see if a CC sent by Live when it stop (123 for example) is not linked to this knob bybthe VST.

Check to in options there is something like "reset sustain and pitchbend" when Live stop, maybe it ca solve the issue. Afk, i do kot remember the exact name of this option

Yes, in fact it does send a CC value. Ctl 123 0. What does this mean?
I toggled something called "Midi Envelope Auto-Reset" but it doesn't do anything.

123 0 is a CC that stop all sounds. Maybe that the cc 123 is dedicated to the knob of your vst, but usually the cc 123 doesnt have to be used, it's a special one. Maybe you can filter it to see if your knob is not affected anymore..you can easily do that with m4L or look to maxforlive.com, it should have already a CC filter

I figured it out.

I don't know how this came about but in Komplete Kontrol's MIDI map interface there was the CC 123 mapped to the knob that controls the balance of these sounds. In all other instruments there was the same mapping but it had no effect since this knob wasn't used.

Thanks everyone for your help!
