CPU Overload - Weird Occurences

Hey everyone,
I'm encountering a significant CPU overload issue since the most recent update to version 12.2.1. Whenever I create a new project, my computer's CPU usage spikes, causing major pauses and audio dropouts (pops).
To troubleshoot, I tried using the default Ableton template (as I created my own template) to rule out any VST-related conflicts, but the problem persists. This issue only occurs when starting a new file in version 12.2.1; I can open old projects created in version 12.1 and save them as 12.2 files without any CPU problems and play them just fine.
The CPU overload happens even when the new project is empty and nothing is playing. This is preventing me from creating any new music. I have already tried redownloading and reinstalling version 12.2.1, but the issue remains. Not sure what it is, anyone gotten similar?
On Windows and know my Pc isn't the problem:
Processor: Intel Ultra Core 7
Ram: 32 Gigs
