Mapping Akai APC Mini2 Faders to Kontakt Parameters Inside Ableton Live 12

Post by Rod Underleaf » Thu Aug 14, 2025 7:37 am

So all eight faders on my Akai APC MK 2 mini are mapped and working on various parameters in Kontakt instrument Soniccouture Pan Drums 2, inside Ableton Live 12...

However, when I press Shift then Volume on the Akai Mini, the faders still only control the Kontakt device parameters and not the eight track volume Live faders...same with Shift/Pan and Shift/Send...

Tried mapping in different ways, and have seen it work but cannot duplicate...The Mini works on Live devices shifting between Volume, Pan, Send, and Device perfectly...

Can anyone solve this issue...

Once you MIDI Map something in Live, thats all it controls.

You’d want to use ‘Device’ functionality.

With device, you control the first 8 available parameters on a selected device.

In the case of kontakt there are two approaches.
1. As a plugin, press ‘Configure’ on the Live device. This enables the faders to be shown in the plugin for any parameter in kontakt that you adjust. They just start populating. You can drag them around to reorganize. Or maybe delete if there are too many. Make sure to turn configure back off when done.

2. You can put Kontakt in a Rack. Then assign the Kontakt parameters that were accessible through Configure to macros in the rack. When you select the rack you control 8 parameters.

I think 1 might be a little better than 2 in this case but you can combine devices in option 2 for a ‘best of’ situation. Also in 1, you can add a lot of parameters via Configure and I think you might be able to Page through the controls on your APCmini… not that it’s all that intuitive to get that deep heheh

So my NI Kontakt instrument was grouped and eight parameters added by configure...so I think I have covered all the bases you described...will keep at it and also if necessary look into a script as Isotonik seemed to be suggesting...So yes, I was in device mode but am currently unable to get out of it to get the other three Mini functions...

Not suggesting a script at all, you already have one, that's what it does.

Success thanks to everyone...greatly appreciated...I was not mapping to the macros properly and now everything is really working perfectly...this is a great relief...

Thanks again...
