Group Solo Sidechain Problem

Post by doubleUG » Fri Aug 22, 2025 4:33 pm

Hi,

I have group of audio track G1(T1 T2 T3). When i solo a track T4, (T1 T2 T3) gets muted. So when on T4 is a compressor with sidechain G1 pre fader I can´t monitor G1 with the sidechain compression because T1 T2 T3 is muted an there is no signal in G1. So why isn´t live simply muting G1? Is the any workaround/option or M4L device to prevent this?

I tried many things and couldn't find a solution to your issue...
My opinion is that it shouldn't work the way it works, but your setup should work.
I'd drop a suggestion in centercode....
MacBook Pro 13" Retina i7 2.8 GHz OS 10.13, L10.0.1, M4L.
MacStudio M1Max 32Go OS 12.3.1

I found this https://maxforlive.com/library/device/3447/solo-safe, but it doesn´t solve the problem. You can do a workaround with live mixer crossfader. Set all tracks to A, the Solo Track T4 to B, T1 T2 T3 to B and the group track G1 to A. Set the Main crossfader to B. But perhaps this can be automated with m4l.
