When I drop prepared stems, usually .wav in my case, into a project, evejn with BPM apready set propoerly, invariably, at least one, usually more will render as if they are for a work with a faster BMP, and are shorter, up to 60% shorter. Screenshot included.
When I examine the original .wav files, they appear to be exaxtly the same actual size, and uncorrumpted, as the ones which import normally.
I have recetly tried dropping them into Audacity (See screenshot 2) and as you'll see, all files end at the same time point.
And you can notice that many have the same breaks, or calmer, or more intense areas in the same places, as you'd expect. But for the one you will notice which is too short. And in the most recent project. one came out too long too.
The actualy files themselves appear to have not been changed, and are the exact same ile size (MBs)
AS Ihave mentioned, it happens in both 11 and 12, (I really don't remember it happening in Live 10) and has happened on my Windows machines, and my Mac.
The screenshots included are from the Mac (Mac Pro 2013, MacOs 12 Monterey, which also has a Windows 10 partition so I can run 32bit favourites, and a Windows 10 HP laptop was used to create the files) have been included here.
It is so frustrating since the only solution at the moment, and it is so cumbersome, is to go back to the source project's virtual rack, and do a mixdown of the whole work, but with the OK channels muted, and just one of the ''shorter'' or ''longer'' ones only, to be exported. And have to do that for each one that hasn;t come out correctly. It is very tiresome and sucks the enjoymemnt of the process.
Screenshot 2: Here:
Ableton exhibiting two examples of this occurrence. Note where the vertical end-marker cursor thing is.At a quick look down the end-marker, you can clearly see where the tail end of each channel strip completes. Or, are meant to do so.
One is noticably shorter and has had the tempo shifted too, as if beat-matched to a faster groove. And you can also clearly see one is longer. And, as with the short one, it is as though it has been beat-matched, but, to a slower groove.
Screenshot 2: Here:
. These are exactly the same project stems, but in Audacity, sghowing, there is otherwise nothing wrong ith the files themselves. They all end (give or take a few millimeters for tails) at the same place! Why? And how to prevent?
Something I'm not very knowledeable, nor have any hands-on experience with at all, is using Ableton's onboard ability to warp or snap any given file to the correct BPM. But so far, I haven't a clue how to go about utilizing those functions according to my particular needs as most of the youtube tutorials weren't very good for me.
but, theoreticlly, I'm frustrated by the awareness, I may be able to ''repair'' those files bsck to the correct length/tempo.
