Live 12.3 - Feedback ?

Post by Calagan » Tue Nov 25, 2025 1:59 pm

Hello all !
Here I come again, with my traditional paranoïd inquiry about each new major version of Live.

For those that just updated to Live 12.3, how do you feel it runs on your system ?
Is it stable ? CPU efficient ? Did you immediately notice more people calling you for gigs ? More boys or girls sexually attracted by you ? Do you feel better and happier with Live 12.3 on your machine ?

Please feel free to comment below (with your system specs).

Is your traditional paranoïa traditionally proven to be right?
I'm definitely growing a healthier beard since L12.3.

Not a big deal perhaps, just did catch endless spining bagel, can say classic. Though not enough tested this issue in pre 12.3, but can't remember that i noticed that already long time.
Can note hovever that after launch it spinned with end, but after install (updated) couple reneved packs, observed endless behavior (with no any hdd activity etc)

I have submitted a support request.

My issue lies with 12.3 introducing some type of bi-directional midi feedback loop for a custom control surface script.

I updated to 12.3 from 12.2.7 and I am encountering the issue with my Midi Fighter Twister (MFT) midi controller.

I have a custom control script for my MFT which works as expected in 12.2.7 (i.e. no lag).

12.3 however appears to introduce some type of bi-directional midi feedback loop (indicated by activity next to the midi map mode button).

The result is that Live hangs (spinning ball) and parameter changes are janky until this loop completes.

I have disabled the standard midi ins/outs for the midi controller which makes no difference (this is not required on previous versions when performing as expected).

As I used it more yesterday it did seem to improve, but was still noticeable to the point of being disruptive.

I suspect it is related to the returning stream of midi information - the control surface is sending the 16 MFT rotaries to 16 macros on 16 tracks simultaneously (this allows me to have a master Macro controller). I do also have another page on the MFT which sends only on a selected single channel, and the behaviour is still present although noticeably reduced. Thinking out loud I may need to disable the returning midi messages.... I have had to do this with Touch OSC before, so maybe changes in 12.3 are now having an impact?....

@Sterioevo, I can't think of any L12.3 change that could cause this.
If nothing changed in your preferences, and generally in your setup then I'd suggest contacting Support.

I have some weird behaviour with VST Windows. If I have several VSTs open - some of them always might get stuck in the background. Only closing and re-opening them brings them back upfront.

Am I the only one havin this? Did not ever experience this below 12.3 ... I'm on MAC Arm

I finally installed it 2 days ago. Perfectly fine, no issues, everything is smooth as butter on my M1 Pro running Sonoma...

Fullscreen on external monitor - Cannot consistently reproduce it.
Doesn't happen while only on the screen of the Macbook.
Happens mainly with Fabfilter plugins, which always seems to hide behind the others. Need to close front VST and reopen, then its normal again.

But it does only happen sometimes and I cannot reproduce it consistently

Actually, something a bit similar happened to me : I was playing with some plugins, and when I opened a new one, it came hidden behind the plugin I was previously playing with (like if this was stucked front).
From what I remember, opening a plugin is supposed to display it in front of anything previously used, or said differently, the last opened, the most on front... .
But like you, I tried to reproduce the issue and it's not always like that... I still don't figure out why...

I've got a similar problem in 12.2.5 on macOs 12.7 with a Launchkey 37. If I've recorded a midi mapped parameter, when I play back the automated clip the automation is deactivated as soon as the playhead crosses a point. I've double checked the recommanded Live midi settings for that controller (think I even tried to deactivate it as a control surface) but nothing worked.

I've got the exact same problem as RMNCR : when my laptop is connected to an external screen, some of the plugins I open are stuck behind some others previously opened. It depends on the plugins, and it's ok when no external screen is connected.
Strange...
