Not another beat repeat. A ratchet engine powered by a custom C external — written directly against the Max SDK, no abstraction layer, no RNBO export.
The timing engine runs a 1024-slot note pool with steal logic: every scheduled repeat is handled by dedicated clocks at the scheduler level, guaranteeing sub-millisecond firing precision regardless of note density. Pool saturation never causes a MIDI freeze — the engine recovers silently. A transport observer triggers automatic cleanup on Live stop, eliminating stuck notes without any user intervention.
- 8 pitch lanes. Each carries a 32-step probability heatmap, not a sequencer, a density field read against a phasor timeline. Draw curves. The engine decides when to fire.
- Subdivision variation anchored to the grid: each repeat can drift to ÷4, ÷2, ×2 or ×4 while staying musical. Velocity attenuation following an exponential curve per event. The harder you hit, the more dramatic the fade.
- Three-layer live feedback: dry note, ratchet trigger, each individual repeat, all visible in real time.
- Works in All mode (one canvas for everything) or Selected mode (one lane per pitch).
Drop it on any MIDI track. Draw. Play.
