Gated FX in Live 4.1.3

Post by mikemusicked » Mon Aug 15, 2005 5:44 pm

I am trying to figure out how to get a gated rhythmic FX in Live. IN other words, running a rhythmic part through a gate to control the rhythm of another track. Any ideas? I searched the boards and did not find anything in the 1st few pages. I apologize if this has already been covered earlier.

this is just one of many available free midi gates. Send the midi to it, and it will open and close accordingly - i think it also has filters in there.

If that doesn't float yer boat I guess you could use volume clip envelopes
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

Or you could use eg. this one if you want a step sequenced gate:

Edit: Or are you actually looking for a sidechaining gate, where eg a drum loop controls the gating of another audio track? Then someone else will have to answer.

Both of those work great for what I need. Thanks a lot guys. Gating using Audio as the rhythmic source would be great too. I've heard some really good examples of that from Kyma. Not sure how you would do that in Live.
