Can't Rewire Live5 to Tracktion

Post by stoney » Sat Aug 20, 2005 3:24 pm

Can anyone get this to work poperly?

Please Ableton, give it a try, maybe you can figure it out and tell the boys at Mackie how to fix the problem.

I can get Live to slave to Tracktion, but cannot get it to see any midi input from the Host.

Does anyone have further information on this?

I too can get audio piped out of Live5 as a rewire slave back into Tracktion2, but I can't get midi events from Tracktion2 (the host) reliably sent to Live5 (the slave).

Does Live reliably work to receive rewired midi from rewire hosts other than Tracktion, or is this a general issue?

i had Live 5.02 rewired into Tracktion 2 a couple of days ago fine.

just did a necessary reinstall of Win XP SP2, everything clean install ...

open tracktion, open Live, Live gives the "another rewire master detected" (fine) ... then "audio output disabled"

doesnt recognize the rewire master, or tracktion no longer recognizes live

ive uninstalled and reinstalled both in different order, no luck

any insight on this?

Make sure after loading tracktion, that you actually insert a Rewire filter on one of your tracks and select "Live" as the rewire device (or load a project which already has this configuration).

Only THEN open live.

yes, it sometimes seemed to work for me also without having the filter setup first, but I finally stumbled upon this method as a way to ensure it works. (thanks to whoever originally posted the info, I forget)

However, I've still never been able to successfully (consistently, in real time) pipe midi between tracktion and live as the rewire 2.0 spec provides for.

ableton has not been very responsive to direct questions about whether live really supports rewire 2.0 with tracktion.

not sure what you're trying to do though ... Live doesnt support use of VSTs while in slave mode so what is it you want to pipe the midi to?

no, not vsts, just builtins. for example, play midi keybd to trigger Operator instrument, and record the audio results back into tracktion.

i can get this to work sometimes, but the latency is horrific. (ie, unplayable)
