Anyone other than me using Abit NF7+UAD+Powercore PCI

Post by atomic » Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:41 pm

I am having some problems with audio glitches when menues open and odd random glitches here and there that are not predictable in any way. They are not messing up my workflow but they are anoying. I am just wondering if anyone other than me is having problems with this setup.

I HAVE spent MUCH time messing with latency and that is not the problem.

My setup is .....

Windows XP
Abit NF7 with two sticks of 512MB ram running at 800MHz
The cpu is a AMD XP running at about the same speed as a 3200
UAD-1
Powercore Element
RME hammerfall DSP with Multiface
my video card is a ATI saphire. I dont know the details of the card but it is current.

It would be great to hear from people with this setup.

Thanks

I dont have a powercore card but I know there is problem with Abit nf7-s v2.0 mothercards and SATA disks wich causes random glitches. I spend months before I found the problem. I solved it by installing an pci SATA controler card wich I connected my SATA disks.

Make sure you're don't using PCI-Slot 1 and 5. These are sharing ressources with each other and SATA!

So it's the best to use PCI-Slots 2, 3 and 4 for your PCI-Cards!

I am using the bare bones NF7 with no sata but i wonder if the pci slots are still shared. Thank you VERY much for the information. I will be moving my cards.

i think so. pci 1 and 5 are shared. and on boards with sata they also share with sata. so if you don't have sata onboard, you're free to use additionally pci 1 or pci 5. just try to avoid using them both at the same time.

WOW it looks like this may have been the root of my problems! I am not sure as to what extent yet but there is no longer a noise when opening menues in soft synths (like my imposcar). This is great news to me.

Thanks for the help guys.

I had my RME hammerfall DSP on PCI#1

My setup now is

PCI 1 = nothing
PCI 2 = Powercore
PCI 3 = Hammerfall
PCI 4 = UAD
PCI 5 = nothing

Two sticks of 512 kingston ram
AMD XP2400 Mobile clocked at 12X200 FSB = aprox AMD3400

Again thanks for the help.
