anyone have any issues with an motu traveler?

every now and then, when I get a lot of sound playing, it will stop the sound, output a high whine, then start playing sound again.

kinda bummed, cause besides that, it works like a champ.

windows xp
dell inspiron 8100
motu traveler
live 4.

I just got a traveler a few weeks ago. No whining or issues yet.

Used it continuously at a gig for about 4 hours the other night, no odd noises or dropouts.

my traveler is mos def road tested, in and out of the studio, indoor and outdoor gigs, and i've never experienced what you describe. I've heard it do a loud click once or twice, but it's pretty much been sweet.

You may wanna call motu tech support and describe the noise to them. I had some weirdness with a 828 mk2 nce, and they promptly shipped me a new one on the promise that I'd send them the problematic one back. All that to say, they're pretty accomodating.

Yeah sounds like you might have a defective unit? Motu are very good and quick about RMA's.

BTW, I have that loud click every once & awhile coming from the traveler too. It's a physical click coming from inside the metal chassis itself, not through the speakers. It usually clicks once when I first turn it on. I think this is normal...

I had a whining click that wouldn't go away with my first traveller, second one has been sweet so far.

ymmv, but i've always gotten better results by calling them. it's a pain to get through sometimes, but well worth it.

so the traveler is a good deal then? I'm currently using the m-audio audiophile fw. wanted to upgrade and was considering the motu (since I have a lot of m-audio stuff anyway).
