Audacity working with Live?

Post by glitchrock-buddha » Sat Nov 05, 2005 9:30 am

hey folks. is anyone successfully using the audacity audio editor as live 5's external sample editor?
i've set it up, but when i open a it through live via the edit button, although the file opens fine in audacity, when i return to live, the program is unusable. nothing will play and time is frozen. Mouse clicks are also extremely delayed, not that it matters if you can't play anything though.

anyone having success here, perhaps i am overlooking something?

thanks for any help,

grb

Hi glitchrock-buddha,
Yep same here. I never set it up as the external audio editor as it used to crash Live even when I switched between Audacity and Live. I think Audacity has a few problems. First time I used it, it recorded a stereo file, but staggered the time of the right hand signal by about half a second. Bizarre. I don't trust it myself but I use it once in a while. I'm sure it isn't a Live problem though.

Post back if you get any clues to what this is all about... :)

ya, i'm gonna ditch audacity. it's a nice looking little app, but definitely unstable. i just tried out amadeus II, and it's far better anyway. it costs maybe 20$ or so, but it works well with live5 and also it supports audio units and vsts. i think i'll register that one.

cheerio,

Hi grb,
Yes, Amadeus is cool. I was giving Audacity too much credence as it was a freeware app but I think I'll do the same and pay Andreas for Amadeus. Much better all round.
Cheers
