France arrives fast ! Again 900 cars burnt last night, I think it lust be between 2000 and 3000 the last 9 days.... Along with schools, factories, public and private businesses.....

the thing that's even more amazing is the lack of any publicity - I knew nothing about it

fuck me that's scary, paris is in that kind of state and it's not even in the news, okay sure it's yahoo but still I would have though it would mention that

France has always had an outside policy that doesn't reflect the actual french society, but some beautifull ideas and principles. I'm sure the french state pushes not to be exposed too much in world news, and keep it's image of "the country of freedom of speech and enlightened culture"... Nothing more wrong than that. It's the past. It is a french tradition.

niklas have you ever lived in the UK? I've noticed over time that you seem to know a fair bit of British culture.

yeah but when the Djakarta riots happened a couple of years ago I remember reading about Journalists sitting in hotel balconies plugging their Dig Cameras into their laptops then mobile phones and emailing images INSTANTLY.

Sounds to me like more to do with selective broadcasting OUTSIDE France

I think the lack of reporting outside France is because there is a theory that rioting can spread by others being informed it is happening elsewhere. This was developed during the Brixton / Toxteth / most places riots during the '80s and later in the US, (LA riots)

Since then the policy has been to downlplay rioting incase it sparks 'copycat' riots!

Ironic really, considering the general background of "does TV/video game violence inspire real world violence?"

True, and the spreading in other parts of france has to do with the medias for sure... but how to avoid that, I donno.
