Progressively turning up EQ over 8 bars (automatically)???

Post by vizon » Fri Nov 11, 2005 5:42 pm

Is it possible to setup Photoshop-like actions in Ableton? Say that I want to turn up the low frequency on the EQ progressively (and perfectly) over 8 bars? Is this possible? And if so ... how?

session:
use unlinked envelope set to 8 bars long ... load your eq in , automate as u like

arrangement:
lay out your parts as u need, then open up the automation track and draw in your eq ....

I can be bothered to explain in more detail cos u really should read the manual or just have a play with it. Lazy!!

Is it easier to automate EQ controls in session or arrangement?

I like doing mine in arrangement because I work on the whole scheme of things. Bringing in stuff and taking it out in terms of EQ.
Every situation(1) should be confronted with its opposite(2) to come to a better situation(3).

The procedure is the same, just remember that your setting in arrange is absolute (means the real knob position of your automated plugin stuff), in session with clip automation you only adjust relative values (means it shows you up your absolute value tweakeable by +100% to -100%).
Just unlink the clipenvelopes and set your absolute eq setting to the max you want to use and you will be fine.
