hi! I'm still using the demo version of Live 4 simply because I'm still not so convinced if I can use it in a live environment the way I want to.
is it possible to mix between livesets in Live? I've been searching the forums a bit and appearantly that still isn't possible after 5 versions of live? why is that?
I can't put all of my songs in one set because the BPM and effects and stuff is quite different in every song. and I also would like to have a clear view per song. having all my songs in one set will just be too cluttered. should I use 2 instances of live? are there people who do their livesets this way? maybe people here can give me advice on how to mix my tracks and overcome stuff like BPM difference, routing difference (the sends) and stuff like that. without using 2 versions of live.
but suppose I use 2 instances of live. how will that work if I have a midi controller set it up? will the midi messages only respond to the active ableton or not? or do I have to use 2 controllers?
anyway, I await the reply's off the live guru's
greetings
I'm a non live user...but maybe I will be

I don't think there is any programs that can open 2 songs with different tempos at the same time. maybe open 2 copies of the program but I actually don't think you can even do this with live. I mean you could render the songs and open them in live at the same time without looping them so they would retain tempo. I'm planning on using quicktime inbetween live sets just to play ambient tracks to fill up the space. but most of my songs can be opened in one set with no problem. sorry not too much help here. basically I think the only way to get the job done is to get clever.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

hmm dat sounds interesting. can you perhaps give a more in depth explanation on how this works? example file maybe?pearsonart.com wrote:Why couldn't you put each song on a separate scene and track, making a little diagonal in the session view field?
Each scene can have it's own bpm and each track can have it's own effects.
Navigation can be assigned to midi controllers etc.
No need to mix between Live sets. Everything goes in one set.
Mix between scenes and clips at any tempo you want.

I learned from 'Ableton Live 4 Power!', and it is a fantastic book for learning Live and digital audio from the ground up.
