Im getting Clicks and PoPs in recorded audio

Hi

Ive been using Live 4 for over a year and it has suddenly started to click and pop on all audio i now record in-

Im using a FW410 interface and have recently changed the drivers as using m-powered protools also.

I dont think this caused the problem- I have also been very lazy re: cleaning all the old audio off my powerbooks harddrive am nearly at capacity in terms of Gig space left-

Oh yes and changing the sample rate in the preferences doesnt seem to help either it stopped for a while when i pushed the sample rate slider to the far right but got latency - any one got any ideas / experienced this?

Hi, interested on which System (pc or Mac) you are and which OS do you use.

I have the same trouble with m-audio fw 410. I am aware of the problem since i use tiger (os 10.4.x). Checked it with Live 4.1.4/ 5.0.1/5.0.2 and diverse 5 betas. Look to this thread ( http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= )

It seems that the trouble with the strange crackling and popping input behaviour of Live is an Issue of M-Audio

M-AUDIO, IF YOU READ THIS, PLEASE GIVE A SOLUTION, IT´S VERY URGENT !!!!

Thanks I'll look into that- it is really annoying couldnt have come at a more bitchin time aswell -in the middle of recording sessions

Hi

I used to work with this sound card with pc and suddenly i had click an pops during recording, (logic / nuendo) I did not have time to try on live because the sound card died, does not boot anymore, the blue led is always blinking.

the firewire is dangerous and must be really made with good quality,
this is a cheap product, it cannot stay 10/15 hours switched on everyday for long time

I have always had crackles and pops with both my fw1884 and fw1814. I have had these problems with osx 10.3-10.4.3. I dare say that after investing thousands of dollars into interfaces, mics, my dual g5, etc, my initial intent to rely on my own drums for my music has been neglected, partially due to an overwhelming frustration resulting from trying to isolate this problem.
Today I finally recorded with a profesional musician who was triggering a Logic (garageband) piano with an Korg SP-500. I had the audio sent directly to Live (because it's stable.) Today, for some reason, none of my mic's popped at all, but rather Logic's single, soitary task, would pop no matter what, at least once every two minutes.

So, I deccided to simplify everything and lowered buffer rates all over. Nothing. Finally I eliminated Logic from the equation ran the Piano AU that comes with osx, with only live open. The crackling was even worse!

The worst thing is, I just reinstalled my operating system a month ago! Nothing runs any better, and now things are worse!

What A nightmarish day. Egads.

M-Audio.

IMO, a perfect example of "you get what you pay for."

Backup regularly, and use care before it trashes your entire Firewire system.

Well as far as trashing my firewire is concerned, mine still seems to fine. I get simililar, unpredictable performance on my Tascam and Maudio. Perhaps it is because my maudio device caused irreperable damage already?

Firewire damage already caused to the computer's FW interface by the Ozonic is what I'm afraid of. I have two external FW800 drives. While I was using my M-Audio Ozonic, I had pops/clicks/silence, as well as the external drives repeatedly dropping off-line. One of them doesn't work at all now. I'm damn glad I backed it up and dumped the Ozonic.

Since moving to mLAN, everything's been perfect. I'm keeping an eye on the Firewire system for any possible damage.

Repairing permissions could fix your firewire ports.
It worked for me when an m-audio fw410 f'd it up.
