link feature in the Impulse instrument

Post by dunic » Tue Nov 29, 2005 8:24 pm

Is it possible to 'extend' this feature? I'm used to an akai mpc workflow, which you can assign all of your samples in your program to multiple mute groups, with live5 you can only achieve that with slot7 and 8. Any way to 'bypass' this?

Hi Dunic.

I dont think so. Maybe they will add that in an update.

I have a work around that is close but not qutie the same. so, I hope it's not too much trouble:

*This workaround requires that you disregard the impulse alltogether, oh and a midi controller would be nice otherwise use the 'qwerty' key board.

1. add a new audio track, maybe want to remove the stop buttons from the whole channel.

2. Then load the sounds, that were to go in the Impulse, onto the new channel, designate them to play from RAM. (hope that is ok for your machine) then set the trigger quantize to what you like, or even off.

3. Then map out each clip to a midi remote, or qwerty key. Add effects if you like and draw envelope changes in each clip if you like. I dont know how familiar you are with Live, but......whatever. It's not the same but it is pretty fun in it's own way.. peace.
