Thanks, guys... see ya!
As sad as it is, I feel that this forum has lost its focus and is rapidly becoming a waste of time. In my opinion, it has ceased to be a functional and professional place for trading ideas, learning Live and music, and helping each other out. I'm sure useful information is being passed back and forth, but I no longer have the desire to try to find it among the petty and childish polls, personal attacks, etc.
Thanks for everyone for the help in the past year, and I hope I've helped someone else out along the way. If the forum regains its professional bearing without the juvenile bickering, I'd love to come back.
For now, cheers!

that would be sad! "it's just a phase" mike patton would sing. true, at the moment signal:noise ratio isn't really favourable, but hey.
as i'm in the theatre technician business, working a lot with video (although mainly old junk mixers/matrixes) and lighting, i was a keen reader of your posts regarding DMX/midi/video and all that stuff. will come in most handy if i ever succeed in convincing directors/choreographers to work with something like our collective brain named Live.
take a short leave, but do come back in a week or so...

yeah man, take a break for awhile, but please do return at some point--I seem to recall lots of useful ideas and stuff coming from you, and there are certainly other solid contributors to these forums that are still here. The signal to noize ratio is pretty bad right now, but there have been ebbs and flows in the past too. Anyhow, take it easy, and hopefully a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch--it would be a shame to have them running the show here!

Hi Hambone,
Personally I feel a bit guilty as my singapore thread caused another thread, and the cummulation of a few negative threads ended up causing another few threads about the issues with the forum.
I for one don't want to see someone with your knowledge leaving the pool..
In the past, we were all good at not escalating negative threads and letting them fade away... now, such threads end up getting 7 pages of replies and whatnot. I do agree with you for the most part, but I hope you can also understand that Live is not the only forum which goes through growing pains.
Hope ya stick around man.

Dude. It's the holidays. No one has a much time for the nonsense. That's why it's al nonsense.
Hopefully in your time you have figured out how to casually sift through all the detritis and just scan reasonable threads. This thread will of course fall into that pile of threads that was more about making drama than music.
Of course what would music be without drama?
Anyway, I too enjoy your company here, so please do come back.
I'm really interested in where you will end up with your Jitter work, especially once the macintels come out.

considering he's kind of leaving in protest, yea i think its good for him to inform us. and that's aside from the fact that after a couple months i may start wondering what happened to Kev, now i know why.computo wrote:smell you later, ya poopoo-er.
But really, get over it. Do you really have to inform everyone of your temporary distaste with the topics covered? just dont visit for a while.
<stroke>its okay, ego</stroke>
and aside from all of that, he's a great fucking guy and has the right to say what's on his mind. i had the amazing fortune of meeting him in person once and was impressed by him as a genuine human being. He's never come across as an overly emotional person to me, so i (personally) don't agree with telling him to "get over it:
but above even all of that, he's right. This forum has turned into a latrine over the last couple weeks. Might as well point that out on your way out the door, eh?
see you around Kevin.

what we need is a moderator. before we all claim it will make the forum stale. ableton need to put a forum section up for all the mindless crap and moderate the genuine musical forum. i reckon we need three more sections: tracks and mixes, events or gigs, and one braindead section - unmoderated.
hambone leaving is bad news. adam jay was going to leave earlier this year [a guy who has helped me countless times]. if machinate leaves, the forums pretty much fucked.
i think the forums in need of a overhaul and quick cos it getting on my tits at the moment. it wont be long before the tips and tricks sections is laid to rest and becomes a waste of time [thankfully no sign of that at this stage]. i'm on this forum to learn, share ideas and hear what people have produced with live. not bitch and gripe like some pissy little spotty faced student looking for a cause cos they got rage against the machine on heavy rotation in the sudent union bar [no offence to spotty students - i was one a long time ago].
and dont bump brain dead threads!

as for this thread... just slip away quietly if you don't like the forum anymore, no need to seek attention.
...but we're always interested to see how you're using live Hambone
Make sure you pop back in when you do something cool or want to talk about Live.
Hambone, there are always threads that are OT and/or distasteful, you yourself started one about George Best which pissed me off no end and other stuff you've written has got under my skin.
But as others have said, you've always been a well helpful dude on here (long live grain delay!) and i'm sure many others have got great advice and inspiration from you, as I have done.
so chill, hope you can learn to weed out the wheat from the chaff on here, and hope your absence is a short one.

You would think the folks at Ableton might be a bit concerned about the way the forums are looking these days. The general tone around here makes Live users look like a bunch of immature school kids... not a good reflection on the product or company. I'm really glad that the forums didn't look like this when I started using Live and was looking for help.
A bit of light moderation would go a long way toward cleaning things up. Perhaps create a "community" forum for non-music or non Ableton related topics, and then move threads as necessary. This would absolve the Abes from the responsibility of deleting or 'censoring' threads, and at the same time keep the Ableton forums on topic.
Just a thought.
