'device on' automation bug

Post by dirtystudios » Thu Apr 10, 2003 9:40 am

yet another one. sheesh, buggy night tonight.

i'm in 9.2 and 2.03. try this and see if you get the same results:

open a session.
go into the arranger veiw.
load a loop and activate the arrangers loop opion.
drop any ableton effect onto this track.
draw some automation points for 'device on'.
now drop a third party effect onto the track after the ableton effect.
draw some automation points for 'device on' for this effect.
double click on another track's effect window so that you can no longer see the two effects on the first track.
now playback your automation.

here's what i get. whenever the second effect automates 'on' instead of hearing the effect, i hear what sounds like a medium pitched square wave, and no origional audio from that track, yet other tracks are unaffected. if i stop playback when the second plug is activated, the square wave continues. it doesn't seem to happen when using two ableton effects, when using two third party effects, or when using a pluggo based effect in the second slot. so far i've tested this with several third parties, among others:
+decimate
blockfish
cyanide 2
dfx polarizer (mono) thought the stereo one works. maybe stereo v. mono has something to do with it.
madshifta
north pole
palacarware empire

anyone have similar results?
