Korg Electribe EM1 VS Electribe EMX1

Post by Ableton Beliver » Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:18 pm

I was walking around today and some how walk into a second hand shop. I saw a Korg Electribe EM for $99 in the box and with the manual.

I know the price is good but whats the difference between the EM1 and the EMX1?

Why did Korg stop manufacturing them?

And is it worth getting for my 'future' live gig set up?

Any advice or comments?

The X has five synth tracks and eight drum tracks, the em only has two synths and 8 drums. X has got valves to warm the sound, nicer case, more fx at once. But for $99 you will have lots of fun with the em. Used them for teaching basic digital music and they are pretty cool and hands on. What do you see yourself doing with one of these with live tho? I reckon they would be best as a cheap controller for live and not perhaps so good as a sound source/composition tool. Not when you've got Live... :)
