Consolidate bug

Post by krank » Wed Jan 11, 2006 8:12 pm

When consolidating an audio clip larger than the duration chosen, the clip volume gets adjusted in proportion to the excess audio.

You mean, the sample is normalized and the clip volume automatically adjusted accordingly?
In that case it's normal behaviour, not a bug.

Say I've got a two-measure clip in Session, but I only need the first measure. I drag it into Arrangement, resize, then consolidate it. The resulting one-measure clip has a lower volume setting.

Is this simply from normalisation? I've had a clip ending up at -51dB.

lower volume setting but it 'sounds' the same volume. Its because the sample is normalized. I've asked why, but nobody came up with a really solid solution.

Apparently Robert said why ages ago, but I can't find the post with the details.

BTW I'm comin to see you in Melbourne Mr Henke!! :)
