Recording external hardware synths and sync issues

Post by xpl2003 » Thu Jan 12, 2006 8:45 pm

Hi All

Does anyone record external synths or grooveboxes?

The problem i have is that when i record a loop/sequence in audio from my Korg Electribes there is a blank part at the beginning of the wave, meaning that there is a delay in the timing.

I have midi out synced, so when i play in live it triggers th external groovebox/synth.

I have lowered the latency to the lowest on my Motu 828 (will be upgrading soundcard very soon though).

Any tips on recording external synths and sync issues ??

Should i use the channel delay or do i have to line up ever waveform i record so that it starts on the beat rather the blank space before the first beat??

use the chanel strip delay compensation

make sure delay compensation is turned on

the amount you offset will be dependent on a couple of factors, and will change when you change your hardware buffer setting.
