Electronic Music Suggestions

I just started getting into Live and want to use it mostly for adding a little something extra to our rock show and recordings. Since I assume a lot of you are into electronic music what would you recommend for a rock/metal guy to get into?

Is there some cool electronic music with heavy guitars? My electronic music exposure is pretty limited (Prodigy, NIN, Depeche Mode etc).

Some of the more intense Psytrance I have listened to is pretty heavy guitar sounding. A lot of Psytrance producers I have met were/are headbangers.

Also, http://www.allmusic.com is just a great music site that cross references similar artists.

Electronic music can be tough to sort out, internet radio is a good way to hear new stuff. http://www.somafm.com is one of my favorites.

Don't know how I forgot the King of electronic/metal/punk - Alec Empire. He was the guy behind Atari Teenage Riot and others. I'm sure he has a site up.

For dark, non guitar stuff check out Autechre - it's a favorite among producers these days.

I prefer Howie B. and Daddylonglegs for my electronica (Big Beat) - they have tasteful guitar but not to much "heavy" stuff. Instead, the distortion is used on their analog synths

resulting in very nice aural pleasure.

I'd have to recommend dark psytrance. I come from a background deep in metal, specifically death metal, and psytrance hits the same spot for me that death metal does, although in a much more constructive way.

It's true that a lot of psytrance artists come from a metal/industrial background.

I'd suggest getting Ghreg on Earth's new album "Sigilweaver"
Also good - Derango - "Tumult" , Psykovsky, and older Infected Mushroom (The Gathering, BP Empire, Classical Mushroom, Converting Vegetarians)

If you want heavy, I'd start with Ghreg on Earth...that's the best heavy psytrance I know of.

This great band is no more, but once, they stood on top of a mountain of soul-less electronic tripe, and once searing, nay screaching, voice stood out and proclaimed to the world, "I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world."

Techno Animal-Brotherhood of the Bomb

Justin Broadrick of Godflesh knows a thing or two about programing hard n heavy beats.

Speaking of Godflesh, the albums "Us and Them" and "Songs of Love and Hate in Dub" is good too. All Godflesh albums are good, but these two make the best use of samplers and drummachines out of the rest of their albums.
