Live 1.1 + Emagic 2/6 + ASIO = dropouts

Post by redfish » Fri Mar 15, 2002 8:39 pm

I\'m having some issues running Live with an Emagic 2/6 box.

Sound Manager drivers for both the 2/6 and the default hardware seem to be rock solid, but they only do stereo and I kinda bought the 2/6 box for more than that :-)

With the ASIO driver, I often get second-long dropouts when CPU load pops above 50%. When load hits 70% or so, isolated blips of audio only are heard, and frequently Live will continue emitting blips even when the program is supposed to be quiet. During a dropout, CPU load drops to 0%.

I\'m not having much luck with tech support - Ableton suggested monkeying with the latency, but it\'s not making much difference, and Emagic either sent me form letters complaining I hadn\'t registered (I have) or ignored me altogether. A**wipes.

Given that Reason is solid with the ASIO driver, though I\'ve not managed to push Reason past 55% or so (if anyone has a really heavy Reason file I\'d appreciate a copy), I\'m tempted to suspect that Live is the problem.

Config -

PowerBook G4 667mhz 1gb RAM
MacOS 9.2
Ableton Live 1.1
Emagic 2/6 1.07a software rev 2.02f2

thanks much for any help, I appreciate it

chris

i\'m using a Powerbook G4 550 w/384mb RAM running OS9.2.2 with Live 1.1 and Reason 1.0 along with the emi 2|6. I\'m getting great performance and I haven\'t even bothered to touch the latency because it worked so good right out the box. i\'m using the ASIO driver that came on the CD and I\'m getting all 6 outs and 2 ins. hope you can sort it out...
