OS X Users...help a newb!
Hi Troops,
Today i took the deep plunge into the abyss that is OS X..and love its deep blue colour i have to say. As a newb to 'X' I am wondering how does one start up Live within...in OS 9 Live held a grand position on the desktop and started up with a simple click...now its tucked away in a seperate Desktop Folder and when I click on Live it Freezes on start up..what gives? Do I have to 'boot up' in OS 9 and if so, how is this done?
Please help me take my first X
Ta

1 2 many,
Spencer is correct. You're going to have to download the Os X version of Live and forget the Os 9 version...
....unless you're trying to run a crack'd Os 9 version. If so, I'd suggest you go out and purchase the Os X version and it'll run just fine.
Take your pick.
BTW, here's the URL to download the correct version for Os X: go here

It be worth getting all the os X updates in up to (10.2.6) now.
Before getting to carried away with applications.
Once you do install Live and any other apps you can then just drag the prog. icon to your "dock" on the desktop.
peace out.

It sounds like you are actually clicking on the Alias that's usually on your OS 9 desktop. You will need to download and install the X version. After that you can place it in the Dock for quick access or it can be found in your Applications folder in your HD. You can say goodbye to the days of launching apps with Desktop icons (Alias'). The Dock is so much better. Enjoy!

Hi,
I've now downloaded the update to os x..installation went well..nice and smooth with no problems..have to say that Live looks smart in os x...it's like having a brand new computer all over again
BTW, if anyone reads this who is on OS X... can you still use all your old applications that you had in OS 9...they are all still there in the HD but when i click on them OS 9 classic loads within OS X (in its own wee screen) and the apps tend to freeze..is this normal? I really hope i can use all my old os 9 apps like reaktor...or i'm stuffed, basically.
Cheers

well, consider yourself stuffed basically. sorry to be the harbinger of bad news but for the most part, most audio apps will not run in Classic mode, especially the good ones. i don't think you'll get Reaktor running at all and most of what you'll get running will be very sluggish. most of my graphics apps like Photoshop etc run fairly well in Classic but i don't think any of my audio apps work at all. Classic can't handle what it takes to run complex audio and DSP apps, most are simply not compatible.Dav wrote:Hi,
