Any thought on USB hub?

Do you guys have any thought on usb hub
I searched but there wasn't thread that talks about usb hub sound quality.

I have no idea whether or not there is the difference between cheap one and expensive one in sound quality. I'd get powered one to alleviate the CPU load.
But no further idea on hub.

Perhaps, I'd hook up UC-33e, x-session, x-station, FCB1010 MIDI Footcontroller, BCR-2000 ,and use simlutaneously.

Hi Xone,

At the moment Live can only handle 3 midi control devices at once but if you use a virtual midi merger like MidiYoke you will be able to configure as many devices as you have actual controllers.

As far as USB hubs are concerned, I can't help you, sorry.

As long as you're using a USB 2 hub with USB 2 devices and have a USB 2 interface on your computer, your hub should have no bearing on your system's sound quality. It's just transferring digital data. And using a powered hub shouldn't affect your CPU, either.

a little but not much, usb 1.0 and 2.0 are taking CPU bandwith. but it's much more then firewire...

thank you for you guys suggestion.
So far, we have mostly usb1 capable midi controllers. so, I guess only matter is the
limitation in hooking up to midi controller.

If my memory serves me right, leading technical dj James zabiela used 3 x-sessions and a couple of uc 33e.
Maybe he used midiyoke or something.

I'd contact a serch anyway on the topic.

In respect to the quality of USB hub, I haven' gotten any infor yet.
maybe I'd better just get regular one.
But still if there's defference in quality, I wanna pick better one though.

i highly recommend belkin powered usb hubs.

Sorry... I meant there should be no difference in CPU drain whether you're using an externally powered or a bus powered hub.

it does, if you hook a few usb devices on one original port with a hub, then it can happen with an unpowered hub that you don't have enough juice to distribute to all hooked up devices... it depends a little on how much power your original / main port carries and on how power hungry your hooked up devices are, to be shure and future proof, i mean you might don't know yet what and how many devices you will hook up eventuelly, i recommend a powered one, definetely. belkins are from good quality and don't cost yet an arm and a leg. if you buy to cheap you will end up buying twice.

I purchased the Belkin USB hub about 7 months ago, and i have had nothing but problems with it. The hub worked great for about three months, then it started to cut out on me. Sometimes it would go down for about 30 seconds then just start back up again. It would happen randomly. For a while I thought it was my USB port on my laptop, so I moved the hub to my desktop and it started doing the same thing. The only thing I had in the hub was my mouse, printer, and ipod hook up. And it didn't make a difference if I hooked up the external power supply or not, the thing kept cutting out on me. I would never use this in a live situation.

Just letting you know my experience with this device.

I connect my x-station to my powerbook usb. Sometimes noise occur, and uc-33e is disconnected. Maybe this is just a characteristic of usb.
But we can't admit the problem during the gig. what's you guys precaution then?
