Ableton.. best so far.

Post by DJ Alpha NRG » Tue Feb 28, 2006 2:49 pm

hello all. i've been mixing and producing Trance music for a few years now. and i'd have to say that this software has conformed to almost anything that i have put it through. being able to mix with your instruments that you either made or installed via "VST" has opened up new possibilites to mix.. mixing with rythmic textures instead of beat syncing. using your own keyboarding skills to spice up the mixes and drop them in like craazy.. dropping basslines and smashing them in. plus.. if u want to produce a whole track.. all u really need is the [op][er][at][or] . it'll give u percussion.. leads.. pads.. sweeps.. rhythmic textures.. arpreggiators.. oh my god this fuckin software is awesome.. for any DJ's that are looking to mix like craazy or want to produce some beats.. from classical to contemporary. from polka to trance. u can do it all in Ableton.. many dj's i have talked to or heard from said that with this sofware.. mixing has been taken to new heights and possibilities. i feel that the intuitive design of the mixing consoles allows for ON THE FLY ANYTHING!!! with use of your effects and anything that u install.. right there. all digital and virtual.. its like having practically weightless hardware that u can take with u wherever u go... i HIGHLY reccomend this software if you want to seriously DJ or produce music.. best wishes to all of the future producers and Trance Dj's

Holy Shit, I had no idea we could do Polka! I'm getting a band together immediately. And we're gonna look almost as cool as this...

All kidding aside, welcome to the cult of Ableton. Links to your trance music? (or polka, for that matter?)

i wonder is there anyone over the age of 30 (or 25 for that matter) producing trance?
it just seems so introductory to electronic music. transitory....
i've experienced people 50 years and older listening to trance, (asian-shake has to be seen to be believed)

curious minds want to know!

I'm 34 and still making trance. Usually, I do it immediately after a nice bubblebath, but before giving myself a nice pedicure. Then, I take a hit of acid and go to bed.

Makes for interesting dreams.

Can you imagine a midi controller like an accordion? Awww yeah! Hopin' around on stage, with the filter cut mapped to the open and close action?

I gotto tell ya, I've tried them all, and Ableton is just ok. If you want a hardcore Trance/Polka production work-horse, you need Band In a Box. Throw out your Pro Tools, and wipe your arse with Cubase. Ableton=*yawn*. You want Polka, you NEED Band In a Box. Nuf said.

Never tried the Polka setttings in BIAB.

When I first got BIAB I put some chords through the country preset and started playing lead country guitar and it sounded pretty good. I damn near fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard, I hate country music but I could shred it. Tonight, I polka :D
