Holy Shit, I didn't think it would ever see the light of day but here it is, and starting at under 2 grand! The base model even includes SampleTank, Orion Pro and a bunch of other software. Looks impressive.

damn, that thing is crazzzyy. What a beast. It will be interesting to see if andhow it catches on. I didn't look too hard, but is it touchscreen? That is definitely the number one most wacky singular piece of gear I've seen since the golden days of analog, if not ever.

you can have it configured with a touchscreen if you like. it's really pretty amazing. it runs Windows XP and/or Linux. there was a demo video of it running Ableton Live awhile ago. pretty wild. it's got all the luxuries of a normal PC (ethernet, etc) plus total integration between all the knobs, keyboard, etc with a nice GUI that kind of "overides" Windows if you want so you don't even have to see it. oh yeah, and all those control surfaces (knobs, sliders, etc) are interchangable. the idea is they want 3rd party companies to create their own controllers and whatnot that you could pop in. really wild. i want one. will it take off? it's hard to say but if this thing is pushed and promoted the right way it could be huge, and maybe the answer to all computer music people's prayers, mine anyway.

The thing looks like a tank. I wonder how much it weighs -- could something that clunky ever be taken to gigs?

it's worth getting just for a collectors Item, but why the hell would anyone want one for any other reason than that when you can get laptops and remote 25's?

looks about the size of an Alesis Andromeda. i wouldn't gig with it. i think it would be great for the studio though. oh wait, it IS the studio!

when i first saw it, i didn't know what to think, but know i do. it's ugly and it's too damn big. if it weighs as much as it looks like it does, then to hell with lugging it around, and if it is lighter than it looks, it'll feel like a flimsy piece of crap pie. seriously, laptop and controllers are the way to go. you'll still be dealing with all the software crap that you deal with nowadays on this beast, you just won't be able to throw the whole thing across the room when you get frustrated with it causing your rage to bury itself deep inside until one day you just snap and kill your neighbors and light your house on fire and they find you ten years later wandering the desert spouting crazy talk all butt naked 'cept for a pair of mismatched snowshoes.

i dunno though, i guess it's pretty cool.
