oh i didnt see that it was a link :o thought u was being silly :)

on a more seirous nite, I quite like your compositions, I like the intro to SOL, abut maybe a different beat, really loved back again and away, could lose the 4/4 bass drum beat just beaf up the intro beat, the only thing I can say is that alot of the synth and bass sounds sound very tacky and as if they were presets from Fruityloops.

whats up EL SALVADOR

Post by automat13 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:04 pm

Great music, nice, quirky, melodic, and minimalistic sometimes too! Great ideas, and interesting changes. Dewbop sounds pretty cool!

Here is some constructive criticism regarding all of the trax:

i think you can work on the sounds more, they sound a little preset, so therefore it all sounds like something weve heard before. If you worked on the sounds more, edit, fx, filters, etc. I think they would come alive even more making them more intersting then they are already. Keep up the great work and when you remix Dewbop number one let me know.

I would love to come tear it up down in El Salvador!!!

Thanks! I am really greatfull for all these thoughts. Ive played for years but never let anyone else hear it. I make music mostly for mysellf.

Preset sounds: In which song is that. (I thought I used to much of fx... ;)

what I mean is, sounds that come strait from the keyboard and or drum machine, not really messed with. dont get me wrong they are sonically great, and love the notes.

But what i have been trying to do lately is taking really great sounds really messin with the pitch, fx, rythmic delay, reverbs etc etc. so they end up more orginal sounding know what i mean?

You listen to Aphex twin at all? if so, you know how as soon as you put it on you know its aphex twin? thats whats I mean!

so anyway, enough bable!!!! I am working on some new trrax. post up soon.

do you use the minimoog plugin? or the Korg legacy stuff?

so so sick!!!!

I know what you mean. I think thats the hardest thing to get t h e s o u n d. Your own sound. But I think if you keep on working and listen carefully it will evolve.

I appreciate your insight. The problem of developement of your own stuff is that you are musician, produrer and everything. You need input from outside. Its usally helpfull. So thanks.

However. I listened through the songs another couple of times but I dont hear where these preset sounds are. Art_IC, Regen and SOL are quite old songs (2001/2) I used Reason a lot on thoose and some Storm.

Nowadays I like simple sounds. so I start with Microtonic, tweak my own drums import them to Ableton Impulse, tweak again + fx, Then Generator and make some simple sounds that I build layers of. Maybe Crystal. Find a loop that I mess up with Live fx.

My fav is to use two sends, draw some fx (reverb, redux, autofilter, erosion and resonators) and make a feedback from sendA to sendB to SendA... then put a limiter last to keep it from overdrive. This can become very beautiful or strange rythmic loops.

I listened to the to live sets you linked. I liked them. Good sound, lots of variation (maybe too much, hard to get the "red line", the theme) Liked the vocals and voices. Thats something I would like to use more. Voices amd samples gives the music another dimension soundwise. Im not very much of a tecnoguy though. But I like this.
