putting my arrangements into sessions so I can loop each section (scenes) for playing them live.
In arrange I select each section and edit to split each track eg into, verses chorus etc.. Drag the whole lot and tab into session view and drop all the clips into slots. Working so far.. Now I want each scene to loop the duration of whatever I've trimmed it to. I double click a clip, then click the scene it belongs to and get the clip properties of the whole scene's clips - click loop and... the clips loop to the original length of the arrangement.. I don't want this! I need to go through each clip and set it to loop current region.
Surely as I've created clips of a certain length, choosing to loop them should just loop the region I've defined?

if i understand you right then you need to do the following to solve the problem
1 select a loop that you want in the arrangement
2 split the clip on the beginning and end of the loop brace which you have just selected.
3 now you have you loop isolated you need to split it again somewhere in the middle -as far as my experience goes so far it does nt matter where you split it
4. now consolidate the newly split "isolated" loop
5. you should be able to drag the loop into the session view -

That seems logical, thanks for the advice!
A couple of things tho:
Why split the clip again before consolidating? With the loop split and selected, consolidating this will create a new file from the loop anyway, surely?
I've already consolidated the whole arrangement before begining to do the chopping, giving one audio/midi file per track. Maybe if I set them all to loop first before chopping they may take on the new region as loop region? Doubtfull!!

this had me stumped for ages, thought it was a bug - then stumbled accross the answer:
right-click on either the start or end marker of your newly-split section.... select "loop current region"
dunno why this command is there, when just clicking on loop would have done the same trick (but Abes always has a reason - it's probably to accommodate a function I don't use in my workflow?)
