Who here uses Live from start to finish?

Aside from hardware.

Who uses other software, what is it, and what do you use it for?

Thats funny, thats exactly what I do. Thats why I asked, I was wondering if anyone is able to finish off using Live. I couldnt, so I use protools. SO if someone knows something I dont please share.

By post do you mean film post production or just 'mastering'? Obviously Live is not a picture app by any stretch, and protools is the king for that, but I use Live 100% from beginning to end for everything music related. Nothing comes close to live in my opinion. I know lots of people who rewire or use it as a scratchpad and move into logic or cubase, but the only step I take outside of Ableton is converting my AIFF's into mp3's with the LAME encoder pluging for iTunes. What can't you do in live that requires protools?

My commercial sample CD, and 5 of my tracks that just got signed were all done 100% in Live. Housematic was all done in Live4 without PDC, what a pain in the ass that was :)

I'm waiting on my copy of Wavelab in the mail but yeah - everythings gone, Cubase, Pro-Tools etc etc

All I have is Ableton and Reason

When I get Wavelab for mastering I should be good to go -

the biggest problem with just using Ableton I find is not all of my tracks have the same levels

At least with Wavelab I'll be able to Master and finalize everything so the levels are even and hot

Because of its limitations with tempos and odd key signatures, I am forced to do most of my work in Sonar, and then use Live for little more than triggering when on stage.

I use live for everything from start to finish. I then load all my tracks into a OLD copy of Sonic Foundry CD Architect to make sure all is in line and burn away.
