new york area laptop battle
a few new york area people have shown some interest in getting a lappy battle up and running. having never been to, or participated in one, i'd appreciate any intel as to how they're run and the like. so i if you know anything about them, you can post it here; and if you're interested in being a part of it leave a shout here too.

Hi, you need some sponsors (for the prizes), a sound system, a good place, some judges, and up to 16 (or more) crazy guys with a laptop.
If we have 16 "laptoppers", the first round is 8 groups of two players, everyone will have 3 minutes to perform. After the first two, a judge will decide who stands and who is eliminated, then the next two players will do it and so on...until we get 8 people for the second round. When 4 guys are in the semi-finals the performance is 5 minutes each, and for the last two , it could be 10 minutes and then...the winner.
Some laptop battles rule the use of the laptop only (no soundcards, no controllers, keyboards, etc), some others let just one controller with the laptop.
The prizes use to be t-shirts, soundcards, software, keyboards, etc. Interesting ah?...
